Algund (Italian name: Lagundo) is located immediate near the spa-city of Meran.
A very famous district of Algund is named Forst. In place there exists one of the largest breweries of Italy. It has the same name as the locality itself.
Already in the time of the Romans the important Roman road “Via Claudia Augusta” passed Algund. Today Algund is reachable easily by using the freeway Meran-Bozen or by using rural roads from Meran, Marling or coming from the Vinschgau Valley.
Till 1950 a train connected Algund with Meran.
Algund’s district Aschbach which is lying in a mountainous zone is accessible through a mountain road or through a ropeway starting from Vinschgau Valley’s Rabland.
