| From the Reschen Pass to Meran

The Vinschgau winds its way from the Reschen Pass to Meran trough South Tyrol’s West. Here South Tyrol’s most important river rises: the Etsch. On its way towards south it passes the mighty summits of the Ötztaler Alpen and the Ortlergruppe mountains which are the highest of the country. It passes areas full off beauties of nature and it passes luxuriant orchards. The Vinschgau Valley is a valley full of high-contrast beauties.

Once identified by the Romans as an important transit region the Vinschgau Valley with the leftovers of the Roman Road “Via Claudia Augusta” and its other numerous historical heirlooms, as for example the mediaeval city of Glurns is very interesting from the historical point of view.

In the Vinschgau Valley you won’t have a problem to find the balance between activity holiday and relaxation. If hiking, Nordic Walking, bicycling or if just enjoy the outlook during a cosy train ride – the Vinschgau Valley doesn’t leave nothing to be desired in many kinds of aspects. Passionate skier can enjoy their passion even the whole year thanks to the ski-regions on the glaciers of the Schnalstal and the Stilfserjoch.
