| The South Tyrolean Wine Route

This sun-blessed spot which surrounds South Tyrol’s capital city Bozen and reaches to the southern limit of the country is divided in the areas Überetsch and Unterland. Here where the mountain’s peaks become lower and change themselves in hilly rises here where the valley gets wide and wider – the landscape’s attraction is determined by luxuriant vineyards and orchards. The favourable mild climate and the fertile ground of the region let grow wines of international top class quality. Not for nothing the area is called “South Tyrolean Wine Route”.

Let the localities Eppan and Kaltern tempt you with their rural romantic. In their extremely pretty alleys and courtyards are located a lot of taverns and wine cellars which offer a lot of possibilities where wine-gourmets can indulge their passion. People who are interested in history can satisfy their thirst in one of the mediaeval fortifications. The castles of the region are very numerous and built really spacious.

Although the area owns a relatively small number of high alpine summits it has to offer no fewer charming beauties of nature. Cool down for example on a hot summer day in the Kalterer See Lake or the Montiggler See Lake and at let at the same time travel your eye over wonderful vineyards and intact forests. Make a cosy hike on the ridge of the Mount Mendelkamm or explore the hilly landscape by bike.
